These measurements are based on studies suggesting the optimal dimensions that create the most comfortable working spaces for users.

A below average countertop height is 32. If you have the luxury of designing your kitchen from scratch why not size everything just as you like it. If youre very tall and you opt for a custom made kitchen not necessarily a prohibitively expensive option you can specify a worktop height more comfortable for your stature. Wet bars are always built at the standard bar counter height of 42 inches. If you are much shorter or much taller the design standards might not be ideal for you.
